Snake Island Integrated Free Zone Becomes Voting Member of the World Free Zones Organization

Snake Island Integrated Free Zone (“SIIFZ”), an economic development area strategically located in the main harbour of Lagos, has been registered as a voting member of the World Free Zones Organization (World FZO).

The World Free Zone Organization is a worldwide organisation that promotes the interests of economic zones, providing guidance and enhancing contributions to the economic prosperity of their host countries.

Speaking on the milestone, the General Manager of Snake Island Management Company (SIMCO), Semiu Akorede said, “The development of free trade zones has boosted investments and created much-needed employment opportunities. As an economic zone committed to empowering African trade and economic growth, this membership further positions SIIFZ for strategic partnerships and critical representation.”

Established in 2005, SIIFZ has provided a platform for substantial contributions to the operations of the free zone scheme in Nigeria. Major activities within the economic zone include terminal operations, marine services, manufacturing, and industrial development.
World FZO membership offers benefits including access to industry research and intelligence, high-
level business development, and strategic networking opportunities.
